Breast lifts are becoming increasingly popular in the US today. Having grown in popularity by an estimated 70%, there is only one explanation for it – it is extremely effective.
What is a breast lift?
A breast lift is carried out by a cosmetic surgeon such as Dr Kaplan and Dr Yee, and the procedure involves removing the excess breast skin, and tightening the remaining skin to create a natural looking shaped breast, physically lifting it to give a youthful shape and firmness.
There are a number of reasons that a breast can lose its shape and firmness, including pregnancy and breast feeding, weight loss, age, gravity and it can even be hereditary. It can be a serious issue for some people and can result in self-esteem and confidence issues.
Luckily a breast lift – also known as a mastopexy – can give the breasts an uplift, helping them to feel firmer, look more shapely and appear more youthful.
What is the Procedure?
The best cosmetic surgeons like Dr Kaplan and Dr Yee will perform your breast lift in about three hours and with a general anaesthetic. Some people also have implants added as well, and the procedure can be performed on women of any age, even if they are planning on breast feeding in the future.
The procedure begins with an initial consultation with your cosmetic surgeon. You can talk them through exactly what you are looking for – remember that it won’t change the size of your breasts – you would need a breast augmentation or breast reduction for that. You will then be able to discuss the options that you have available to you and the procedure that will be followed.
On the day of the procedure the surgeon will make a mark on your breast of the position where your nipple will go. They will then remove excess skin and move the breast tissue up to the proper location, and if you are having implants they will put them in. They will finish the procedure by stitching you up and bandaging.
After the Procedure
Once the breast surgeon has finished and you are sent home, you should remember that you will need to rest for a few days, and heavy lifting will definitely be out for a few weeks whilst the breasts repair themselves. Once the stitches are taken out you will see the new shape of your breasts better and the shape will keep changing over time.
If one breast is a little different to the other, a simple touch up procedure can be carried out by your surgeon, or a good breast lift surgeon like Dr Kaplan or Dr Yee. They can also help to correct previous breast surgery – done by other surgeons – that hasn’t turned out you were expecting.
Dr Kaplan and Dr Yee are both experienced cosmetic surgeons with years of experience in breast surgery, using the latest techniques. They thrive on combining a genuine love for their job, desire to offer a great service to their clients and all the skills that are needed for a really excellent job.
